CPUs are present mainly when playing in Local Mode on Nintendo Switch Sports.
Difficulty[]
Unlike previous Wii Sports games, where the difficulty increases the more you earn skill points, you can choose between Normal, Strong, and Powerhouse for each sport.
Online Play[]
They sometimes randomly appear to fill in the gap in case another player takes too long to join the game. They also show up during the first match a player plays in a sport in Play Globally, in part to provide more time to get through the sport's tutorials and hints.
CPUs online can very often (though not inherently) be told apart from human players based on their names and titles, as a CPU will typically have:
- 1 title instead of 2 or 0, which has been picked from the default titles.
- A 1-word surname with no nicknames or icons.
- Uses stamps very actively.

Trivia[]
- CPUs will normally be Sportsmates, but the 1.2.0 update added an Easter egg where Mii CPUs can be played against in offline mode. The intermission tip for it is called "Challenge the Champion", they will have a difficulty comparable to Powerhouse regardless of what was clicked on, and the Miis will have the Legend title.
- This is done by holding the ZL and L buttons (or ZR and R buttons) on the match settings while selecting OK. If done correctly, a different sound will play.
- All of their names are taken directly from CPU Miis in Wii Sports Resort.
